Invitations by email may have to be a little more creative and it's difficult to know whether or not your recipient will actually get the invitation or if it will be blocked by some filters on their email system.
When considering holiday party invitations, there are lots of different options. You may decide to create your own invitations from scratch using beautiful colored paper, ribbons and other decorations that can easily be found at a scrapbook shop or online, or you may choose from a large variety of ready-made holiday party invitations. Either way, it is always a nice touch to hand write the mailing address on the outside of the envelope and find postage stamps that match or coordinate with the envelope.
Another great tip that is often overlooked is take your beautiful invitations to the post office and hand them to the clerk to be hand canceled. You may have to bring your own ink pad, in a matching color to match your envelopes, of course, but if the post office will hand cancel each of your invitations, they will still look beautiful when they are delivered to your guests. If you just drop them off at the post office for delivery, your beautiful invitations will go in with all the rest of the bulk mail and be canceled by a large machine. Sometimes the mail that goes in these machines doesn't always come out the same way they went in.
As you can see, there are lots of little details that go into party planning, and you have a lot of options to choose from as far as your party invitations. Choose an invitation that best fits your party and matches your theme. Your invitations should go out two to three weeks before the party. This will allow enough time for the invitations to arrive, if you are mailing them, and it will also allow for people to fit your party into their social calendar.
Always ask for an RSVP. Not everyone will respond to your RSVP, but at least will get a good idea of how many people plan on attending from the responses you do receive. If you need an exact count, if you are planning a formal dinner party, for example, you can always call your guests that haven't responded to the RSVP yet and ask them if they plan on attending. Chances are they do, and they just forgot to respond.
