Fun Party Food Ideas for Kid Birthday Parties

Planning a kid's birthday party can have its frustrations. Depending on the age of the child, you've got more than a few things to consider. What theme? How many guests? Where will you have the party? What kind of food should you serve? If you want to make your child's birthday party a memorable one, you might consider planning a simple yet fun menu. Everyone does a party with cake and ice cream. How about serving your young guests delicious appetizers that they'll ask their parents to make for their parties too?

Here are a few suggestions for fun party foods that kids absolutely love!

CANDYLAND

Pizza Muffins

1 can refrigerated biscuits

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup shredded cheese

1/2 lb. ground meat, browned & drained

1 tsp. onion salt

1 tsp. Italian seasoning

In a muffin pan, place a biscuit in each cup, pressing until it completely covers bottom and sides. Combine tomato sauce, onion salt and Italian seasoning. Place 1 tablespoon of tomato mixture and 1 tablespoon of ground meat in each muffin cup; to with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool slightly before removing muffins.

Apple Lady Bugs

2 red apples

1/4 cup raisins

1 tablespoon peanut butter

8 thin pretzel sticks

Slice apples in half from top to bottom, and scoop out the cores using a knife or melon baller. If you have an apple corer, core them first, then slice. Place each apple half flat side down on a small plate. Dab peanut butter on to the back of the 'lady bug', then stick raisins onto the dabs for spots. Use this method to make eyes too. Stick one end of each pretzel stick into a raisin, then press the other end into the apples to make antennae.

Tag-a-Longs

1 box Ritz crackers

1 small jar peanut butter

Coating chocolate

Cover Ritz crackers with peanut butter and top with another Ritz crackers to make a "sandwich." Melt chocolate and dip sandwiches in chocolate until covered. Allow to dry.

Remember to have fun and involve your child in the party planning as well. They will love the experience and the time spent with you. Planning a child's birthday party doesn't have to be stressful or ordinary. Add some fun, personal touches to the event and your party will be a success!

Unique Invitations

When you're planning your next party, it is important to set the tone even before the guests arrive. They should be excited to attend, and the best way to create a buzz around your celebration is to begin with the invitations. Rather than choosing a standard pack of invitations from your local store, consider creating unique, personalized designs that will spark your guests' interest. Some ideas include

invitations for quinceaneras

Having each invitation shaped like a puzzle piece and instructing your guests to bring their invitations with them to the event. Then create an ice breaker activity around piecing the puzzle together. Including a game in your invitation. This could be a crossword puzzle or even Pictionary-like game, among others. For instance, you could have the details of your party hidden within a word search.Creating a short book of photos. This is especially appropriate for an anniversary celebration or even a party including all your best friends, such as a bachelorette party. People can then save these invitations as mementos for years to come. Writing a short story as the invitation. Turn your party into an adventure, and tell the story to all your guests. This may be fun for theme parties or any event in which you want your guests to dress in a certain manner. For example, if you throw a pirate-themed party, you may want to tell the tale of your ship washing ashore on a deserted island.

INVITATIONS

Each of these distinctive approaches will ensure you have an invitation that stands out, and people will both remember your event and look forward to its arrival.

Bat Mitzvah Party Theme - She's So Sweet (Candy Theme)

Throwing a theme party is a wonderful opportunity to direct one's party planning efforts from party invitations through party favors. For a Bat Mitzvah. "She's the Sweetest" candy theme is tons of fun for the party planners and guests alike. Not to mention delicious!

candyland decorations

Invitations: Set the mood for the party by sending out candy-themed invitations. There are many ready-made, as well as custom invitations, that can be purchased that have a candy theme to them. You can even purchase edible invitations! These typically are either 'chocolate invitations' in which a mold is created especially for your invitations or 'cookie' invitations that have an edible transfer on them that includes the pertinent info regarding your party (place, time, etc.). Although postage is considerably more for these types of invitations, they are certainly unique and fun.

CANDYLAND

Edible Place cards: Let your place cards do double duty for you. Personalized label mint tins and candy bar wrappers can serve as place cards too! (Just make sure if you are using the latter to write on the label with a felt tip pen so that there is no chance of tearing the label).

Decorations: Here you need to be a bit creative because there aren't a lot of pre-made 'candy decorations'. But here are some ideas to help spur your creative juices:

· Take inspiration from the game "Candyland". Enlist the help of an artistic friend to make larger-than-lifesize candies and memorabilia from the game.

· Decorate with Pinatas. Search the web for sources. You can even find places that will custom make piñatas for you.

· Make your own candy posters. Go to Google Images and search on the term "Candy" or a particular brand of candy. Pick wonderfully colorful images and then work with a printing company (Kinko's or a local printer) and ask them to create poster board, glossy images of them to hang throughout the party room. Not only will they look wonderful, the female guests will love to take them home after the party to use to decorate their rooms.

Centerpieces: With candy as your theme, the sky is the limit with the fun you can have with candy centerpieces. A few suggestions:

· Fill clear vases (very inexpensive to purchase at craft stores) with the candy of your choice and wrap a big, color coordinated satin ribbon bow around each vase. All tables can be the same candy (all M&Ms, all jelly beans, etc). or each table can be a particular type or brand of candy. Make sure you include a mini scoop at each table as well as favor bags so guests can take home the candies.

· Personalized Lollipop centerpiece arrangements. Here, instead of having flowers on each table have personalized lollipops (chocolate or hard candy) be the 'flowers'. Guests will 'pick' a lollipop from the arrangement after the meal and dessert has been served. Not sure how to create one? Turn to Google Images once again for inspiration; simply type in "Lollipop Centerpieces"

Soft-Serve Station: Make your dessert extra special (and fun!) by offering a soft serve station that features a large selection of candy toppings. Just make sure you have several wait staff working the station so that the line can go rather quickly.

Favors: Many of the ideas already listed can also serve as your party favor. However, if want to give a non-edible party favor than look for gifts that can be personalized with a candy theme such as grippy socks or squishy pillows.

Babysitter Games to Keep Kids Busy

Your kids are a boisterous lot and you need babysitter games to keep them occupied while the babysitter is preparing their meals or washing the bottles. Turning on the television is so easy and convenient but you want their time to be a learning experience. What then should you do? What games will you tell the babysitter to give them? Here are some suggestions.

candyland party

Coloring Books and Crayons - These can keep the kids occupied for enough time until your babysitter is done with the housework or meal preparation. Choose pictures that appeal to the child, such as flowers and little girls for the girls and soldiers, cars or airplanes for the boys. Toddlers, those kids between one to two years old, are happy with large sheets of blank paper and fat, short crayons for easy handling. Tape the paper onto the floor or table so it does not move around. Older kids can have coloring books and use the regular crayons. Make sure you buy crayons that do not contain toxic materials.

CANDYLAND

Board Games -These babysitter games are applicable when there are two or more kids to babysit. They also provide lots of fun and teach the kids teamwork, sportsmanship, and patience. Choose age-appropriate board games; there is a wide selection to choose from- Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, Scrabble, Candyland, etc. be sure to keep the small pieces from the infants and toddlers to avoid accidental swallowing.

Play Dough - Store-bought play dough saves time instead of having to make it yourself. Have a stock of many colors including the bright ones such as red, orange, yellow, blue and green. They are more appealing and the children can mold them into anything they fancy- food, flowers, people, animals- the list is endless. Like the crayons, make sure the dough is made of safe material to avoid negative effects or poisoning.

There are other babysitter games you can have on hand when you leave the kids and the sitter has other chores to do. What is important is that they are safe and happy when left alone by themselves.

Baby Adoption Shower Invitations

If you are planning to throw a baby shower for you friends who are about to have a new addition to their family through an adoption, there are some aspects of the preparations that you may have to do differently, such as the invitations that you send out to the guests. Invitations for baby adoption showers are very similar to invitations for regular baby showers, but there are some slight considerations to keep in mind.

invitations for baptism

Wording a baby adoption shower invitation

INVITATIONS

As much as possible, you should put the gender of the child on the invitation so that the guests would know what to bring as gifts. This is especially true for babies that have very ambiguous names, such as Sam and Chris.

In relation to this, you should also try to indicate where the would-be parents have registered their new child, as this can also give guests a better idea of what gifts to bring. Other "generic" information you should put on the invitation include the date and time of the shower, the names of the parents, the address where the shower will be held, and the numbers invited guests can contact to confirm their attendance.

If you wish to use more creative wording, you can try searching the Internet for ideas, as there are a large number of web sites that provide wording ideas for baby shower invitations. The only significant difference that you should consider on an invitation for a baby adoption shower is that instead of using phrases such as "as they welcome their newborn," you may opt to just use "as they welcome (the child's name) to their family."

If you are planning to throw a baby shower for your friends who are adopting a baby, there are a several things that you need to do differently because of the special circumstances surrounding the new addition to their family. The good news is that there are some aspects of the preparations that you do not have to significantly alter, including the invitations because you basically put the same information on them with only a few minor "differences."

Coming Up With Witty 50th Birthday Sayings for Invitations

With age comes wisdom, we say. What we don't often hear is: With age also comes wit! You'll notice that quite a few advanced adults have a full stock of witticisms, guaranteed to put the cheekiest of youngsters to shame! Making birthday invitations for such witty people is bound to be a daunting task, if you haven't turned 50 yourself. You may feel at a loss for 50th birthday sayings for invitations.

invitations for bridal shower

Invitations for older people are known to be dull and rather plain, but you can break the mold if you include witty 50th birthday sayings for invitations. It's not good to celebrate a date as special as the one which marks one half of a century on this Earth with somber words - don't hesitate to be colorful! Find a lively, optimistic quote to mark the occasion. In fact, funny and uplifting words would be perfect.

INVITATIONS

You don't have to be Shakespeare to come up with something clever. Keep your birthday celebrant in mind when making the invitations. What is a witty phrase that this celebrant is likely to say? Does he or she have a catchphrase which friends and family have come to identify with him or her? Perhaps "Oy vey!" or "Great scott!" - a phrase that the celebrant uses often. With cheerful lettering and a bit of graphic design skill, you can turn that simple catchphrase into an invitation cover that would make all the recipients smile!

If you don't want to use your own words, though, it is perfectly all right to borrow others'. You can look through the Internet for witty quotes about looking at 50. Quotes from contemporary comic poets like Ogden Nash, or from comedians like the timeless Bob Hope and George Burns are always a treasure.

You may opt for something touching instead of witty, if the celebrant's personality calls for something a bit more serious. Quotes from inspirational poems, or uplifting quotes from religious text, are always welcome additions in cards. The important thing is not to cloud over the occasion by presenting the celebrant and his or her guests with a boring, lifeless, standard invitation. Touch up your card with bright or pastel colors. Although if the celebrant's personality calls for an earthlier look, earth colors like sepia and old rose should also be acceptable.

The design of the invitation should match the liveliness of the quote you have chosen. Don't match funny 50th birthday sayings for invitations with a shot of pensive scenery, or an inspirational quote with a goofy graphic! Although if wit is called for, perhaps the latter technique could be used to your advantage. Mix and match inspirational or touching quotes with happy, cartoonish images, geared especially to calling forth a smile from the lips of the recipients.

Fun Bar Mitzvah Ideas

We all know that Mitzvahs are an important part of the Jewish tradition. It is the time in their development when they leave childish things behind and accept their responsibilities as an adult. The Mitzvah is a celebration of this accomplishment and a time for the traditions which transition them into adulthood. Like any other celebration which involves guests, food, and entertainment there are many things to keep in mind when planning your Mitzvah.

Bar Mitzvah Planning Tips

CANDYLAND

The theme of your Mitzvah should be decided first; it will help make further planning decisions. The guest of honor should decide on the theme. Their interests, favorite things, or hobbies can be used as the theme. The theme can vary widely based on your child interests. Favorite movies are a popular theme such as Grease or Wizard of Oz. Elements from the movies can be used as decorations for the event. For the Wizard of Oz theme your guests can enter your venue on a yellow brick road and use props that you supply such as witches hats, magic wands, and ruby slippers. For the Grease theme your guests can be encouraged to dress the part in 50's style clothing. The venue can be decorated like a 50's style dinner with pink, black and white streamers and balloons. A sports theme is great for your sporty child. The guests will have a ball playing a variety of sports and games that can be easily managed.

Another popular theme is the childhood theme. Since this is a time to leave childhood things behind why not have fun doing it one last time. Disney, childhood toys, or Mother Goose stories are some of the things which can be incorporated into your event. A candy or Candyland theme is also always a big hit. Centerpieces and decorations can be made to look like candy and the guests enjoy eating all the candy that they receive throughout the night. A Clue or Nancy Drew theme can also be chosen for your Mitzvah's theme. Guests can be assigned characters and can try to figure out "who done it" by following the script and clues.

A couple games should be placed throughout the night with prizes for the winner. A trivia game can be played with the question being about the guest of honor or general trivia questions. The participants can be divided into teams and the team with the most correct answers wins the prize. A scavenger hunt can be played with the participants trying to find certain items throughout the room. The contestants can form a circle holding hands and try to pass a hula hoop through the chain without breaking the chain in a human hula hoop race. Games such as limbo and a dance contest require no real setup and can easily be fit into any time line. No matter what the theme or which games you play as long as the night is about the guest of honor the night will be a great time for all.

Family Fun - Game Night

"What's in it for me?" That's a question that is becoming more pervasive in our society. People may not say it out loud, but a lot of times it is the first question people ask themselves when encountering the thought of a new experience.

candyland party supplies

When thinking about starting a game night with your family, the "What's in it for me?" question's answer is: fun family time in which more than just the playing of a game (or two) is accomplished. Game Night with your family provides a time when all the family members can have fun AND open the lines of communication amongst all of the members.

CANDYLAND

It is not, however, a time when a parent should display how much better he/she is at a game than the child is. It's not that you have to let your child win every time. If the family game is "Old Maid" or "Go Fish" (two common card games that can be played with an ordinary deck of cards) the child losing every once in a while prepares your child for all of society's forms of competition. Let's face it, from Kindergarten on, school provides all sorts of competitions - for grades, physical prowess in sports, even citizenship!

Game Night should be a time that all members look forward to. The games should be geared to the age of the child (or children.)

Let each child be in charge of picking one game that everyone can play. Candyland is a great board game for the youngest of children. Guess Who is probably a good choice for a child who has outgrown Candyland but isn't yet ready for Monopoly. Even a game like Battleship can be played by young family members if they are paired up with an older family member.

If you start Family Game Night when your child is young, you will see that it is a "habit" of sorts, and when your child becomes more involved with outside extracurricular activities that don't include you, you will be happy that Family Game Night is ingrained in your family's routine. What better way for all of the family members to enjoy each other and look forward to at least one night a week when everyone comes together and has fun?

And, remember to turn off all distractions, like cell phones! Leave your work troubles out of Family Fun Night, relax and have fun with your child.

Preschool Math - What Your Preschooler Should Know

Are you wondering how to teach preschool math? In order to be ready for kindergarten, your child needs to know how to recognize colors and shapes, count to 10, identify numbers 0 through 10, complete simple patterns, group objects by shape and color, and use mathematical language like short/long, big/little and heavy/light.

candyland

Here are three ways you can teach your children everything they need to know to get ready for kindergarten:

CANDYLAND

1. Let your child help you with everyday chores and errands. Have your child match socks from the clean clothes basket, place a certain number of items in the grocery cart, set the table and pass our cookies. As you go about your daily activities, give your child an opportunity to help you count, estimate, weigh and measure. Your child is not only learning essential preschool math skills, she is developing good social skills by learning to be a good helper.

2. Add math games and activities to your daily routine. Simple games like Candyland, Dominoes, Chutes and Ladders, Hi Ho Cheerio, Bingo and Hopscotch are great for practicing math skills. Games make learning fun for children by removing the pressure that comes from formal lessons and workbooks. Set aside 15-20 minutes per day to reinforce math concepts through play.

3. Read books about math. Children's books can be a great way to teach basic math skills. Look for books that encourage your child to identify objects by shape or color, or count a certain number of objects. Seek and Find books are a great resource for preschoolers because they not only encourage counting, they help children improve their visual discrimination skills.

You don't need a math degree to homeschool preschool. Just look for learning opportunities in your everyday activities, and remember to relax and have fun!

Baby Shower Invitations Carry Personalization, Themes

A baby shower provides the opportunity to celebrate the mother-to-be, along with the baby on the way. In the same manner, baby shower invitations should be all about the mom and baby, from the style and colors to the wording and details. With a number of online options for creating and ordering affordable baby shower invitations, you won't end up with a cookie cutter layout or spend a fortune for the uniqueness, either.

invitations for graduation party

From design-filled fonts to a variety of color palettes and options for photo uploads, online ordering allows you to be the designer and put your vision on paper. Guests will enjoy seeing a creative display of personalized style, and you'll come out on top with an affordable, truly unique invitation that's sure to impress.

INVITATIONS

Down to the Basics

Essential items for all baby shower invitations are the basics - date, time and address of the shower. It's also critical to include the RSVP information so you can plan accordingly for a total number of guests. If the new mom is registered for gifts, it's important to include gift registry details for the store or website. With so many options for baby items, many new moms pick out their preferences via registries, so it helps her and the guests to make sure she gets what she needs.

The overall look of the invitations should follow suit with the theme for the shower. Whether it's based on the gender of the baby, or the mother-to-be's favorite nursery rhyme, or even a specific trend, make sure it all ties together.

All Things Gender

If the baby's gender is known, work the "pretty in pink" or "little boy blue" phrases into the wording. Even if the gender isn't known, there are a number of fun and unique ways to word the invites. Here are a few gender references and phrases that are ideal for baby shower invitations:

Boy
Little Prince King Duke Captain Snips, snails and puppy dog tails Little Boy Blue Trucks, bikes and boats

Girl
Little Princess Angel Queen Duchess Pretty in Pink Sugar and spice and everything nice Tickled Pink Ribbons and Bows

Gender Neutral
If it's a boy or if it's a girl we simply can't say, but let's honor the mommy before the big day! Will it be Snips 'n' Snails and Puppy Dog Tails, or Sugar 'n' Spice and Everything Nice? (Mother's Name) is expecting a bundle of joy, we don't know yet if it's a girl or boy! Bottles and booties, diapers and pins, this is where the love begins!

There are a number of creative options for choosing unique wording on baby shower invitations. Whether you know the gender or not, fun phrases makes for a playful, memorable invite.

Personalization, Please

The ultimate way to make your invitations unique is to incorporate a piece of the new mom or new baby. If the baby's name is known, placing a monogram on the baby shower invitations is an elegant and personalized way to send style. Or maybe the mother-to-be loves shabby chic style and plans to use it in the nursery. Simply incorporate it with soft peonies, adorable white dots and pink tones. Whether she prefers chic, modern, elegant or traditional, the overall style can be carried over from the invitations to the shower itself for a seamless, stylish party.

Another way to get personalized is to have a little fun with poems, puns or plays-on-words. Including them in the baby shower invitations allows you to showcase your creativity. Go with weather theme wording by stating, "What's the latest forecast? A baby is predicted, but first there will be a shower! RSVP 'weather' or not you can attend." If the new mom is into a certain style of music, include select phrases from songs to come up with the invitation wording that will have everyone singing. A family that already has a son or daughter can create a card that includes comments from the soon-to-be siblings. As long as the wording and overall design relates back to the new mom or baby, you can get extremely creative.

Whether you choose fun and playful, or sleek and stylish for the overall theme of your baby shower invitations, no design is off limits. With online ordering, one-of-a-kind cards can be created at a desirable price. And once you have affordable invitations with creative elements throughout, everyone is happy from the mother-to-be to the guests.

How to Make a Tiered Cake Stand

You can show off your special preparations of tarts, cookies, cup cakes and individual treats using tiered cake stands. This stylish stand also helps you to easily display appetizers, cocktail sausages and mini quiches during a party.

candyland decorations

You can enjoy making a tiered stand just by following some simple steps. The materials needed to make this would be available in a cake-decorating shop as well as craft stores. Add glamour and personal touch to your party by amusing your guests with your choicest preparations displayed in this tiered stand.

CANDYLAND

You need to cut a gift wrapping paper of 3 ft. length. Place the paper onto a flat surface. Ensure that the patterned side of the paper is facing downwards. Now place the cake boards on top of this paper and trace the outline of the boards. Depending on the number of tiers trace the outlines appropriately and cut out the outlines. Note that you need to be able to neatly arrange the circles in a tier shape where the largest circle is at the bottom and the circle with the smallest diameter is placed on top.

Classic Games

These games are perennial favorites that you probably remember playing as a child. They have all been updated for the next generation without losing the basic concepts that you remember.

Chutes and Ladders - This game is a family favorite even beyond the preschool years. Players move their pieces along the board and travel up ladders or slide down chutes (slides). The action is fast-paced as winners can fall to the middle of the pack.

Candyland - This bright and cheery game teaches preschoolers color recognition. Gingerbread man pieces are moved along the board by drawing colored cards. Kids learn how to match the colors on the cards to the colors on the board.

Hi Ho Cherry O - This game combines fun with math...not an easy task! Children spin the spinner and then get the chance to pluck adorable plastic cherries from the cherry trees.

Cranium Games

Cranium is a game for grown-ups that has been so successful it launched a game company with many different titles.

Cranium Cariboo - This game allows children to act out silly phrases, draw pictures and unlock secret doors. The fifteen-minute span of each game is perfect for small children. They learn numbers, colors, letters and shapes during game play.

Cranium Hullabaloo - This game really gets your kids moving. The concept is that your child will recognize shapes by jumping to different shape mats on the floor. A pre-recorded song plays from a music console that comes with the game and it instructs kids where to go. It also instructs kids to "Do a silly dance" and other fun activities in between the shape instructions. When the console says "Freeze!" the player on the special mat wins.

Old Favorites Get New Faces

Some games last decades without having an official package or board to play with. These games combine old favorites with new graphics and some twists on game play.

I Spy Preschool Game - This favorite car games gets a facelift as a card game for preschoolers. Instead of looking at things out in the world, this game brings the action indoors for one to four players. The players match the riddles on one set of cards to the pictures on another.

Kids on Stage Board Game - This variation of charades is easy for preschoolers to play and perfectly suited for younger attention spans. The actions are in pictures so kids can play without parent help. Everyone gets to act something out on every turn, so there's no waiting!

Bar Mitzvah Invitations Cards

If you're getting ready to celebrate a Bar Mitzvah, then now is the time to begin reviewing some of those etiquette issues associated with the big event. While some of these concepts may be familiar territory, most of them should be reviewed before you send out Bar Mitzvah Invitations Cards to everyone you know. Plus, you may need to know the information to help your other guests.

invitations for baptism

Mitzvah Party 101

INVITATIONS

The purpose behind those bar mitzvah cards or bat mitzvah invitations may be common knowledge to you but it may not be so clear to some of your guests. You may want to explain to them that this event can best be classified as a rite of passage. Jewish boys and girls embark on this journey when they turn 13. However, the specific date of the event can vary depending on how long the child's religious education takes to complete.

Generally, there are two parts of a party: the synagogue portion and the reception. While there are differences, the synagogue portion of the event will usually involve the child reciting a portion of the Torah. The amount recited will depend on the traditions of your particular synagogue. If you have a daughter, she may not be permitted to participate in this part of the celebration. However, she may still be able to have a bat mitzvah (the female version of bar mitzvahs).

Prior to Mailing Out the Bar Mitzvah Invite

Generally, people want to know if there will be gifts associated with the invitations. This may seem to be the primary purpose of the celebration if you believe everything you see on television. However, that's not always the case. Gifts are a customary part of the event but they do not need to be elaborate and there are no pre-determined rules for what should be purchased.

When you send out the mitzvah card, be sure to include your contact information so guests can contact you with questions about what to purchase for your son or daughter. If you're not sure how to respond, cash gifts, savings bonds, and gift certificates are usually very nice presents. Often these are given in multiples of 18 because of the number's significance to the Jewish community. However, nearly any gift that would be appropriate for a child of this age would make an excellent event.

The Bar Mitzvah Wording on Invitations

The only requirement for the invitation is that you include the child's name, as well as the date and location for the invitations religious portion of the event. It is customary to invite friends and family members to both parts of the event. However, non-Jewish guests may feel more comfortable only attending the reception. That doesn't mean you shouldn't extend an invitation to the first through your custom Bar Mitzvah Invitations Cards.

While the wording won't be too difficult, you can always dress up the content of your printed Bar Mitzvah Invitations Cards with a quote from the Torah, particularly from the passage your child will be reading.

How to Make Your Own Printable Invitations for Any Occasion

Even with modern technology like email and cell phones, printed invitations have remained the most common way to let people know about your upcoming party and will continue to remain popular due to the timeless rules of party etiquette. Invitations can be a major cost, especially for large parties, like weddings and some baby showers. However, with a little creativity and time, you can make your own printable invitations, even if you have no artistic skills.

invitations for graduation party

1. The first step is designing your card. You can use a simple word processor like Microsoft Word and if you want, you can go to the Adobe's website at http://createpdf.adobe.com to convert your file into a pdf file. Select the proper dimensions and print out a sample on some plain white paper just to make sure it is the right size.

INVITATIONS

2. Next, you will want to find the proper card stock to print out your invitations on. Your local office supply store will have these and you can purchase them inexpensively there.

3. Use the word processor to insert text boxes with the words you want on your invitation. Play around with the fonts and text color.

4. There are many sites that offer free clip art and pictures that you can use for your invitations. Just do a search for "free clip art" on the search engines and you will find many sites that provide these services for free. Browse through and download the pictures you want and then insert them into your card at the desired location.

5. If you use a background image, make sure it does not obscure the text on the card. Ideally, background images should be watermarked. Most word processors will allow you to select background images and make them watermarks. Another alternative is to click on all the text boxes and give them solid colored backgrounds.

6. Need a catchy poem or verse? Once again, you can search the internet for related verses. For example, if I am making baby shower invitations, then I can search for "baby shower poem" or "baby verse" and any other related phrases.

7. Save the master copy of the finished card and print out a sample copy on plain paper to see what it will look like. If it looks good, then you can start personalizing each card and printing it out on card stock.

8. If you do not have a color printer, then create a personalized copy for each guest and save it as a separate file on a disk. Take the disk to your local print shop and have them print out a invitation for each guest. Some print shops may even print out the invitations for you if you give them the guest list and template. A print shop will cost more than printing them out yourself, but probably less than buying invitations from somewhere else. Plus the product should look very professional and they may even have the right card stock available. Additionally, print shops can do engraved invitations as well, which are good for upscale occasions like weddings.

Some other guidelines include try to stick to a central theme, don't try to use too many pictures and colors, and compare your card to others at card stores to get a feel for what a good invitation should look like. Remember that most invitations are simple and have just a few graphics and maybe one verse. As you can see, there are infinite possibilities when creating your own party invitations and not only is it a fun project, but will also save you money.

Board Games For Younger Children

Playing board games with younger children presents a fun learning opportunity. These precious years are when kids learn so much. Playing kids board games can reinforce learning letters, numbers, and colors. Playing board games can also help develop memory and cognitive skills. A lot of board game makers have not only taken into account a fun factor with their games but the learning potential.

candyland party decorations

When choosing games for preschoolers, look for age appropriate board games. This most likely will be listed on the front of the board game box. Choose games that either have a theme or relate to something that is of interest to your child. If your child really likes animals, then an animal-themed game might hold their attention for longer. There are also many classic board games like Memory and Candyland that feature popular characters, too.

CANDYLAND

Playing pieces should be fairly large and shouldn't present a choking hazard. Avoid games where tokens are used or games that contain small game pieces. All wooden games are sturdy and will be harder for children to break.

Before buying a board game for young children, check to see how long the playing time is for the game. Games that are relatively short are more likely to be finished before interest is lost. Board games that can be finished in under 15 minutes should be considered.

Look for board games that are not only age appropriate but that have simple rules. Games that have only one winning condition are best, too. Some games might have more than one way to win the game. It can be confusing to be able to win a game more than one way. This information may not be clearly noted on the board game box, so use house rules to set only one winning condition.

House rules can always be implemented into any game. Changing the rules for family play can speed up games, which hopefully will keep younger players engaged.

Award-winning games have been put through some test for fun and game play. There are plenty of awards given out to board games during the year, but just because a game receives an award doesn't mean it's necessary a game your kids would enjoy. Some awards are given to those board games submitted for review, so it might not be a complete inclusion to every game put out that year. Still, award-winning games can give some ideas of games to consider for your children.

Playing board games with younger children might have its challenges. Kids might become bored and not want to finish the game. If this happens, consider house rules to tailor the game to your child's interest. Finding games that feature their favorite things can help to expand their attention span while playing. There are many board games for younger children. Read reviews and box labels to gain insight into what the game is all about before purchasing it. While board games can be a fun way to learn, it can also be a great family activity that can create memories to last a lifetime.

Sleepovers and Sleeping Bags For Kids

Has your child ever been invited to an overnight party at a relative or friends home and told to bring a slumber bag? This can be problematic if they don't have sleeping bags! With so many sleeping bags on the market, finding the perfect sleep-n-bag doesn't have to be a difficult process. There are so many designs, sizes and options available today for each individual slumber bag. If you are planning a sleepover for your child or think they will be invited to one in the future, you should take into consideration purchasing them a slumber bag. Preparation is the key to having a great party and happy children.

candyland invitations

If you are worried about your own children staying the night away from home, you can solve this by hosting it at your house. Here are some tips and ideas on how to plan a great party and make fun memories that will last. First of all, you will need to set the date and time of arrival and departure. Then it's a good idea to sit down with your child and plan the guest list. On the invitations, don't forget to remind each child to bring their sleep-n-bag. When you invite the children, you should let the parents know all of the details for the evening and be sure to ask the other parents about food allergies their kids may have. Another important piece of information that is essential to get is contact numbers of all of the parents. Contact numbers come in handy in the event that a child gets scared or homesick in their sleep-n-bag and wants to go home in the middle of the night.

CANDYLAND INVITATIONS

The next step is to plan some activities for your child and their friends to do during the party. One thing that kids love to do at these types of things is staying up late and watching movies. Have your kids pick out a few of their favorite movies before all their friends come over, then at the party all the kids can vote on what movie everyone should watch. This will help eliminate potential fights if everyone has a different idea of what movie to watch. Then the little ones can all lay out on their sleeping bags or curl up inside their slumber bag and watch tv.

Another great sleepover activity is doing crafts. Craft activities can be lots of fun as long as there is proper adult supervision. Some examples are finger painting, drawing, coloring, and making art projects. For example, if it's a birthday party, kids can decorate their own birthday hats. Puffy paint and rhinestones are a fun way to decorate purses or t-shirts as well. When kids tire of these activities, they can play board games while sitting on their slumber bag. Some party favorites are Candy Land, Guess Who, and twister. Kids can take turns playing or form teams so everyone can play at once!

Another fun thing to do is tell stories while laying on their sleep-n-bag. Just make sure to warn the little ones before that scary stories aren't allowed. This will hopefully prevent the children from having bad dreams or wanting to go home in the middle of the night. They can also sing campfire songs as they lay in their sleeping bags.

It is also important to have snacks and the staple sleepover food at the party. Pretzels, chips, and cupcakes are always good snacks and easily cleaned should they spill on the sleep-n-bag. Pizza is a great food to have on hand as well, since most kids love pizza. With these tips and a lot of sleeping bags, your child can have a fun evening at home with their friends.

Now while a lot of the older generation do not have nor use emails traditional methods still need to be practiced when sending out wedding invitations on their special wedding day! A third idea is to have a website customized for the upcoming event and have it uploaded to the world wide web well in advance and have the URL advertised online.

Some of the downfalls to this approach as mentioned above could be people not having access to the internet or not being connected on a regular basis to be able to access either the wedding website created especially for your wedding day or they can not connect to the social network such as Facebook or MySpace. Another pitfall could be the older generation either being computer illiterate or being intimidated by the whole notion of the computer.

So in conclusion, digital wedding invitations will become the fabric of wedding for years to come! Although they will not replace the traditional wedding invitation digital wedding invitations are more cost effective, more time efficient and more environmentally friendly all while getting the message across to all the wedding guests in the same manner as a traditional wedding invitation would. Therefore go crazy with your digital wedding invitation be as creative with your digital invite as you would with your traditional print invitation. But still keep in mind that it is still a wedding and traditional methods must be applied.

Engagement Party Invitations

You want to organize a really special engagement party for your friends and part of that is creating engagement party invitations that will really be special and mean something to them. Before we go into how you can do this though let's think about some basic etiquette tips for organizing a great engagement party.

Engagement Party Planning Etiquette

INVITATIONS

Before planning the engagement party let's just say that there are a few basic etiquette rules that you should probably be aware of, like:

Give the engaged couple time to just enjoy being engaged - don't have the engagement party for at least the first two months. Make sure that people know they are under no compulsion to give engagement party gifts, a note on the engagement party invitations saying "No gift required" would be a good idea to make people see that they do not need to feel pressurized into buying two expensive gifts (one for the engagement party and another for the wedding). If the couple is having a small wedding then have a small engagement party - plan in line with the wedding. Think about the couple and families involved - make sure that they will feel comfortable with what you have planned. Send out engagement party invitations that will get everyone talking.
Free Party Invitations for the Engagement Party

To really make the day special for the engaged couple you want to begin with creating great engagement party invitations, but you also don't want to spend too much money on this. Well, a great idea is to create engagement party invitations using Web 2.0.

Using Web 2.0 you will be able to create a free web page inviting people to the engagement party and that you can customize as much as you like. Use photos, videos, audio and music to show people what you are planning for the engagement party and then add more afterwards so that those who couldn't make it still feel like they are a part of the celebrations.

Once your web page is up, send guests an email with the link to the web page so that they can get the party details and also RSVP online. They will also be able to see their photos next to their names on the page (if you have added their photos), see who else is coming and then even start communicating with other party guests before the party.

21st Birthday Invitations

You only turn twenty-one once in your life, so why not go all out on the occasion? There are plenty of things to do after you reach this milestone and you can find the perfect 21st birthday invitations for the special event. Finding the right one for your tastes and personality might not be a tough as you think.

invitations for sweet 16

The first thing that you want to do is choose a theme for your event. You might want to have a night out on the town with a handful of friends or you might want to spend a quiet afternoon with family. Some want to do both. For these individuals two sets of 21st birthday invitations might be in order.

INVITATIONS

When I turned 21 I was so excited about the event that I made sure to send twenty-first birthday invitations to my extended family. My mother was planning a party for our close-knit group and I was thrilled. However, I was turning a very special age that boasts some new opportunities as well.

Of course, my parents expected me to hit the town for a few hours after the afternoon family party. They designated my older brother as the driver. He was less than thrilled until he discovered that I was sending 21st birthday invitations to my sorority sisters. He suddenly got the urge to do some driving after he heard the news.

The invites were great. I chose a trendy circular design that had a martini glass tipped in the center. I loved these 21st birthday invitations because they had a great texture on the front. The colors were understated and mature and I knew that these were perfect for my special evening out with the girls.

The planning for the home party was pretty much up to my mother. She did a great job with choosing the right food and entertainment but she neglected to choose 21st birthday invitations. About a month before the big event I started shopping for just the right one for the family as well.

These 21st birthday invitations were a lot different than the ones I chose for the girls. I chose a great design that looked like an admission ticket. I figured that my younger nieces and nephews would enjoy the look of these twenty-first birthday invitations and so would the older attendants. They also went wonderfully with my mom's movie theme that she chose for the occasion.

My birthday that year was one of the most memorable days of my life. I even kept a copy of both 21st birthday party invitations to remember the day even better. It was a true milestone.

Candy Jar Invites - Fill empty baby jars with various candies. Create your written invitation on theme-related scrapbook papers, laminate, hole-punch and run a ribbon through the hole, tie to the jar, and hand-deliver your invites. Add a fun Candyland sticker on the front of each jar.

Alternatives: Attach your invite to a large colorful lollipop or a small bag of candy and hand-deliver.

CANDYLAND PARTY THEME DECORATIONS

This is the perfect party for going all out with lots of fun colors and making the Candyland game board come alive. Here's some ideas to help you turn your party area into the land of candy:

For an extra-special pathway, cut a wavy path out of large cardboard boxes, e.g., a refrigerator box and create your Candyland path by gluing various colored felt squares or foam squares to the cardboard. Line your walkway with extra-large lollipops. These may be created with hot glue or by stapling two paper plates facing one another, spray paint the plates, cover with coordinating colored cellophane tied off with curling ribbons, and attach to yard stakes. To start the Rainbow Trail, create a rainbow arch using balloons. If you have a wood arch available, all you have to do is attach the colorful balloons in a rainbow pattern to the arch. If you don't have an arch, then you can create one using PVC pipe for the sides and an aluminum rod for the curved portion at the top. Attach the rods together using duct tape or electrical tape. You can make the Gingerbread Tree out of cardboard or plywood. Attach gingerbread men and plums to your tree. You can make and decorate the gingerbread men, wrap them in clear cellophane before attaching to your tree, and then hand them out as a party favor when the party is over. You can attach small dark purple balloons to the tree to serve as the plums. Create a life-size Candyland board game by painting your squares onto the largest painter's tarp that you can find. Use an actual Candyland game board as your guide. The kids will serve as the Candyland pieces. Use the Candyland game cards to guide how the kids move on the board. Make gingerbread houses to serve as table centerpieces. To create Peppermint Stick Forrest, make extra-large candy canes out of cardboard. Spray paint them white and paint on red stripes. Use lots of red and white twisted streamers, curling ribbons, and balloons for this area.

CANDYLAND PARTY THEME IDEAS FOR FOODS
Cut sandwiches into gingerbread men and rainbow shapes using cookie cutters. Serve individual servings of french fries in paper snow cones tha are decorated with a Candyland sticker. Serve rainbow Goldfish crackers and rainbow Pringles. Set-up a fun candy buffet by placing various candies into clear glass containers, vases, jars, etc.

Great Board Games For Christmas

Selecting a gift for someone for Christmas can prove to be a very difficult task. But if you know the interests of that person, this task can become relatively easy. Some kids like to play with toys while others are more interested in reading books. Similarly, some kids like to play cards whereas others love to play board games. Board games also come in many different forms. These include the traditional run and chase games and other games that test your mental prowess. Giving such a gift to kids for Christmas will increase their mental capabilities and response time.

One such game is the Loaded Questions game. It includes over 1300 questions. This game can be played between 4 to 6 players. This game comes in two versions: a classical version for kids and an adult version for adults. The rules of the game are very simple. You have to move along the board by guessing who gave which answers to questions.

CANDYLAND

The player who completes his board tour ahead of the others is the winner. The questions are selected from the list questions provided with the game. The adult version of this game includes questions that are very funny and suggestive. This gift to an adult for Christmas will be just perfect since families mostly get together on this occasion. The adults can then play this game amongst themselves. They will surely have more fun than they would have expected! Similarly the kids can also play the kids version of this game and have fun over Christmas.

Another board game for kids is the Candyland Game which will make a great gift for Christmas. This game is perfect for young kids as it is full of attractive graphics and colorful images. The game is also very simple to play. The kids draw the colored cards and move their pawn to the same colored square. The player who first reaches the candy castle is the winner.

During their journey to the castle, they have to pass the peppermint forest and the ice cream sea. The instruction cards are very colorful which attracts the kids. The pawns are also cutely designed for the kids to choose. This game can help young kids and toddlers to learn and differentiate between the colors. What better gift could one give on Christmas to kids than a game that the kids love to play and it also teaches them something new!

Making Invitations

Today my best friend and I are going to lunch. She called me and said that she had some big news and wanted to talk with me about it. I became excited just thinking about what it could possibly be. My mind started to race through different scenarios, like a job promotion, that would be good, or maybe a job transfer, that would not be good. Maybe she is buying her dream house, now that would be fantastic. I stopped wondering and decided to just wait and hear what she had to say.

invitations wedding

Forty minutes later, at the corner bistro, we were sharing hugs, tears and muffled screams when she stretched her left hand forward showing me that beautiful ring. Before I could even get all the proposal details, she told me she was going to need my help with the wedding invitations. Of course I said yes, but that was before she told me that we would be making them ourselves. I thought back to the card making I had done in the past for birthdays and baby showers, but never wedding invitations. Wow what an honor I thought. I made a mental note to research on card making and wedding invitations ASAP!

INVITATIONS

I headed for my computer as soon as I got home, because my best friend told me they wanted to get married in four months so she needed us to start immediately. After I logged on to my computer, I clicked on the card making icon on my screen. While that program loaded I also logged on to the web and searched for information on making your own professional looking wedding invitations. Within seconds I had choices like, 'Elegance at a fraction of the cost' and 'Invitations that won't break your bank.' As I switched back to my card making program there was a knock on my door. My best friend walked in with her arms full. There were color swatches, sample wedding invitations, a card making software program paper samples and still more.

As we sorted though all things my best friend brought to the house, the last thing she handed to me was a small photo album. She had this huge smile on her face. She said this is my dress. My invitations should make them want to see me in this!

It was a good thing I did not have any plans. This looks like it is going to take a while.

Family Fun and Education With Board Games

Most families will own at least one board game, possibly Monopoly, Candyland, or another traditional board games such as Bingo, or Yahtzee. There are a variety of others available as well, and some of them are new and others have stood the test of time allowing for family fun, as well as an educational experience for all ages.

Scrabble is an educational game board, which helps introduce new words and spelling to young and old. Introduced in 1938, besides having a few variations developed through the years, it has stayed the same and stood the test of time.

CANDYLAND

Up words, another educational vocabulary and spelling game is well known for not only family fun, but it's educational use as well. You'll use tiles, similar to Scrabble, but can stack letters on top of others in order to make new words.

The old standard of Monopoly is owned by almost 75 million people around the world. Monopoly not only helps with math skills, but is a bit of strategic game that the whole family can play no matter how young or old. Besides helping with math, it also has been known to improve reading and comprehension skills, as well as give a chance for team playing, real estate education, as well as money comprehension skills.

Yahtzee is an old-time favorite of many, as it is a small board game type that only requires a pad designating dice throws, and a pencil for each player. Five dice and a cup to shake them in and math skills begin in proving immediately as you have to add up the dice in each throw. The nice thing about Yahtzee is that you do not have to have the traditional score sheets, but just need to remember poker hands and you can make your own.

Most of these types of games have been around for a very long time, because not only are they fun but educational as well. You'll find math skills improve, spelling and vocabulary can improve, as well as money comprehension, team playing, and many other sportsmanship skills. One of the best things about most of these traditional board games is the time spent with family. You'll be amazed at the conversations that go around the table during a long Monopoly game, or the fun that can be had with Yahtzee.

Boardgames can be educational and fun and that's what is so attractive about them. Even simple games like Candyland, and Chutes and Ladders can help a child learn to count, learn sportsmanship, and enjoy time playing with friends and family. Board games have been around for a very long time, and every family usually has one of these games tucked in a closet somewhere.
