First, you must decide if you want to use a color theme when planning your candy buffet, or if you just want to use a mix of colors. Next step is to find a variety of glass jars in all shapes and sizes. These jars will be used to hold the various kinds of candies.

Once you get the jars, it is time to get some candy! Some candies that work well in a candy buffet are licorice sticks of various colors, MnM's, Hershey's kisses, skittles, Cotton Candy, Lollipops, gumdrops, and gum balls just to name a few. Ask the guest of honor what their favorite candy is and find a way to incorporate it into the candy buffet, candy bars work good as well.

Once you have your jars and candy, it is time to set up the table. Cover the table with a nice colorful table cloth. You can use a round, square or rectangle shaped table, depending on how big you want your candy display to be. Arrange the jars on the table, you can use boxes, covered in fabric to add dimension to the table. Add the candy to the jars, than step back and admire your work!

Be sure to have a scoop for each jar of candy as well as a small bag or container to hold the candies in. You can add a little sign letting guests know to fill a bag with "a sweet treat". Candy displays are not only wonderful dessert tables, they are also a great decoration for any birthday party theme, and they are sure to be enjoyed by the young and old alike.
