How Those Yummy Pink Rock Candy Sticks Are Made

Kids are always going crazy with Pink Rock Candy Sticks. It is a great traditional treat during birthdays, Halloween for Trick or Treat and Christmas. Rock candies are made out of large sugar crystals. You can buy it in any candy stores, too. It is a byproduct of nucleanation, the scientific stage where crystals are made. But if you want to make your own, here are the few steps in making your rock candies. Ingredients are surely available in anyone's pantry. You can add some fruity flavors in it for additional delight. Though it will consume almost a week of your time in making it, for sure it is worth the wait when you see those smiles from your kid's face.

Make sure that the glass container that you will be using is clean. Otherwise, sterilize it by submerging them in a hot water for several minutes. Firstly, pour a cup of water in a saucepan and let it boil under the stove. But before reaching its boiling point, add 2 cups of sugar gradually while mixing it consistently. Make sure that sugar crystals are completely dissolved before pouring another part of it. You can also add few drops of food coloring to it. If you choose to put some flavoring, you can add it also. You can place 5 to 10 drops of strawberry extract to make your rock candies pink. You can even use fresh strawberries to flavor it. Just do not forget to remove it before transferring the mixture to the glass container.

Since you are requiring pink rock candy sticks, use a clean lollipop stick, wet it a little and roll it in granulated sugar. With the use of a string, attach the popsicle stick to the pencil and place the pencil across the glass jar while the stick is hanging inside the container to be covered with sugar mixture. Do not let the stick touch the bottom. Put some allowance in it. After some days, you will be noticing that pink crystals are starting to develop. It needs a full week for the rock to form. Now you have your very own pink rock candy sticks to enjoy.
